DLA Piper says employees allowed to use iPad’s for work

DLA Piper, one of the world’s largest legal service providers, today announced the implementation of Good Technology’s Good for Enterprise product to provide secure email on its employee’s iPads, iPhones, and Android devices.

Recognising the growth in mobile technology, such as the increasing use of tablets and more powerful smartphones in the workplace, DLA Piper’s IT department needed a solution that was easy to use and completely secure. After evaluating a number of options DLA Piper chose Good Technology, the leader in multiplatform enterprise mobility. As a result, the company’s lawyers can now use a wide range of devices, including their own iPads, to securely access work email in the quick, efficient manner which their clients expect.

“The iPad’s popularity grows day by day and a lot of our employees now want to use their device for work. Unchecked, this creates a challenge and security hole for our IT department. Good Technology quickly delivered a reliable mobile enterprise solution that gives our lawyers access to business email on their iPads, whilst meeting the stringent security standards that keeps confidential corporate information safe,” said Jed Lowe, head of IT at DLA Piper.

DLA Piper is one of a growing number of organisations offering support for the use of employee’s devices in the enterprise. A recent UK study by Good Technology found that more than 50% of professional services companies support portable mobile devices in the workplace and, of these, approximately 20% support tablets like the Apple iPad. Mobility solutions from Good Technology make it possible for legal professionals to collaborate with partners, access research data, and connect to company resources easily and securely from a client location, while in transit, or any time they are away from their desks.

“Every day we are hearing from companies whose employees want to use their personal mobile devices at work and need help making them secure. Forward-thinking businesses, like DLA Piper, have moved quickly to put the necessary security and support in place to increase the mobility of the workforce,” said Andrew Jacques, VP and GM for EMEA, Good Technology.
