Eurotel Appoints Ex-BT Channel Chief as new CEO

Eurotel has appointed Chris Jagusz as its new Chief Executive. Jagusz will report to Lord Young of Graffham, Chairman of Eurotel and succeeds Anthony Rex who left the company earlier in 2006.

Jagusz has spent nearly 23 years working in the telecommunications industry and joins Eurotel from BT, where he was General Manager at Openreach, its £5bn network access business which employs 30,000 people and supports 300m telephone calls and 350m internet connections every day. He played a crucial role preparing the start-up of this unit in January 2006. This involved developing channel strategy, gaining customer and Ofcom approval for the new division and quickly raising awareness of Openreach and the reason for its creation.

Prior to this, Jagusz was General Manager of BT’s Indirect Channels, its SME reseller channel. Here, he was responsible for strategic and new business development and marketing. During his tenure, the unit achieved a 10 per cent upturn in channel revenues on the previous year, exceeding £767m revenue and £229m profit goals.

Jagusz’s career at BT has also involved senior roles in global sales and establishing and managing BT business units in Germany and Switzerland.

Commenting on the appointment of Jagusz, Lord Young of Graffham, Chairman of Eurotel, said:

“Chris brings extensive experience in producing and expanding communications products and services and most importantly in selling them to small businesses. We already have a very talented and successful team at Eurotel and, under Chris’s direction, I am sure we will continue to grow and become the first port of call for small businesses seeking straightforward communications technology.”

Chris Jagusz, Chief Executive of Eurotel, said:

“I’m delighted to be joining a business that knows its market so well and is completely clear about its focus on smaller businesses. These customers are under-served by the telecoms industry, and it’s where I believe that Eurotel can make a real difference to their productivity and growth, by providing them with straightforward, flexible and reliable services.”
