Evolving Systems Activates 25 Millionth SIM Card

Evolving Systems, a provider of software solutions and services to the wireless, wireline and IP carrier market, today announced it has activated its 25 millionth SIM card using the Company’s pioneering Dynamic SIM Allocation™ (DSA) solution. If stacked, these cards would reach a height of 20 kilometers, just under 2½ times that of Mount Everest.

Evolving Systems’ DSA solution is an innovative way of activating phones which removes the inefficiencies of traditional pre-provisioning, avoids costs associated with inactive SIM cards and enables operators to offer an enhanced end user experience.

“The success of our DSA solution bears witness to the extensive range of benefits operators have achieved through using it,” says Thad Dupper, President and CEO at Evolving Systems.

"Our DSA solution is providing operators around the world with a competitive advantage,” he adds. “They can improve efficiency by limiting allocation of scarce and expensive resources to SIM cards held by active end-users. As a result, we believe that the momentum behind DSA will continue to grow and the solution will become an increasingly important and larger percentage of our business.”

Since going into production at lead customer Telefónica Móviles México (Movistar) in 2008, Evolving Systems’ DSA solution has been expanded and subsequently selected by major wireless operators across Europe, Africa, South East Asia and Central and Latin America. Customers include 3 UK, Maxis, Movistar Mexico, MTN South Africa and Indosat.

At the recent Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, Spain, Evolving Systems announced the launch of two additional solutions which build on the proven DSA platform. The Intelligent M2M Controller™ product is a dedicated machine-to-machine (M2M) solution for wireless operators and the new Dynamic SIM Allocation (DSA) for LTE module provides operators with enhanced flexibility by working across all generations of wireless technology – 2G, 3G and 4G.
