Executel Appoints Microsoft Specialist

North East communications firm Executel has appointed a pre-sales specialist to help extend its expertise into the Unified Communications arena.

Paul Rodgerson, 44, from North Shields has joined the Executel team following eight years with Durham-based IT and business consultancy Waterstons where he held the position of executive consultant and specialised in the design and provision of cost-effective, secure and resilient infrastructure solutions with particular focus on Unified Communications.

Prior to that, Paul spent nine years at Newcastle International Airport during which he was responsible for all IT projects including administrative, operational, airfield and baggage management systems.

Of Paul’s appointment, Executel managing director, Tim Price said: “Now is a very exciting time in our development and Paul is going to be instrumental in the business as we move forward. We are doubling in size and moving into the Unified Communications arena which will give us a significant advantage over our competitors.

“We have long been a leading IP telephony provider and our track record for implementing systems is second to none but in order to remain ahead of the game we must continue to explore new products, services and opportunities. Furthermore, those customers of ours that were early adopters of IP telephony are now turning to us and asking what’s new, what’s coming and how they can get more from their systems. Unified Communications is the answer.

“Paul’s expertise lies in the delivery of Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS) – the driving force behind the Unified Communications phenomenon – which we are currently adding to our portfolio and he will therefore be a valuable asset during this development period.”

Paul added: “Executel is the region’s leading provider of voice over IP telephony solutions and I am delighted to be joining the company at a time of considerable success and expansion.

“Executel can now offer businesses the opportunity to embrace communications technologies that not only converge telephony with software applications such as Microsoft OCS but also improve business effectiveness, significantly enhance the experience for mobile workers and reduce costs.”

Executel is currently the premier supplier of voice and data solutions in the North East of England. The firm employs a 38-strong workforce at its Metro Centre base and last year achieved revenues in excess of £7.5m.
