Genesis Highlights Recession-Beating Opportunities for the Channel

34% of businesses are planning to increase their IT and communications spend over the next 12 months, providing plenty of opportunities for channel growth, according to research from Genesis Communications.

The hosted SaaS provider is reassuring resellers that there is still money to be made in spite of the recession if they can identify key opportunities for effective IT purchases.

The research, conducted in partnership with Business XL magazine, also highlights where the opportunities might be available, stating that 42% of businesses will increase their use of remote and mobile working solutions over the next 12 months.

In spite of this proposed investment, 41% of businesses still aren’t aware of the hosted SaaS solutions available to make mobile working more productive and cost efficient and 40% still haven’t adopted Microsoft Exchange, CRM or SharePoint, opening a wide opportunity for resellers to educate and convert new and existing customers.

Genesis will be giving resellers more information on the current opportunities in the hosted SaaS market at its partnership forum, which is being held at the Microsoft headquarters in Reading on 30th April.

In addition to industry insight and product demonstrations, Genesis will also be giving resellers access to some of Microsoft UK’s top hosting solutions specialists, who will be chairing discussions on the current marketplace and the partnership between Microsoft and Genesis.

Adam Cathcart, head of channel development at Genesis, says that the company understands the importance of supporting the channel through the recession period: “Our reseller partners are crucial to our success and we will support them as much as we can. Despite the current downturn, there are real opportunities for resellers to make some money from emerging technologies like hosted SaaS.

“There is a definite education job to be done with SMEs across the country to help them understand why hosted SaaS could be so beneficial to their business and we’re keen to ensure our reseller partners are properly equipped to do this. By giving them access to the experts at Microsoft and the specialists from within Genesis, we’re hoping to help both existing and prospective partners understand exactly how they can capitalise on the opportunities offered by hosted SaaS in spite of the recession.”
