Griffin Launches Free Online Backup Offer

Resellers love products that sell themselves, particularly when they have the potential to more than quadruple the margin from an average broadband customer and give them another reason not to churn away. With companies like BT raising the awareness of online backup through TV advertising, the enterprise market has now started asking their suppliers for it.

The benefits are obvious. By copying your data over a broadband line to a secure remote data centre you can guard against having your computer stolen, system failure and even human error. To encourage resellers to start to meet this need Griffin is offering free online backup licences to Partners to promote to their bases until the end of August 2010.

Online backup products have been around for a while but most are expensive and complicated to install. Often the user has to remember to initiate a backup and restoring from the stored copy is sometimes unreliable.

Griffin’s new white label online backup product is designed specifically for the channel. It is easy to install, runs itself in the background and costs only a few pounds a month. Data is transferred in seconds over Griffin’s business-grade IP network and is stored on SANServe their award-winning, 100% uptime, hosting service, furthermore online backup data transfer is excluded from Griffin’s fair usage policy allowance. Customers can purchase and install the service easily themselves from a website so selling costs are kept to a minimum.

Andrew Dickinson, Sales and Marketing Director, Griffin Internet, commented, “This is a great product to increase the ‘stickiness’ of current customers. With 25% of lap tops in the UK being lost or stolen it is also an ideal product for remote workers. Our Partners have found that by adding online backup to their portfolio they have not only increased the value of every customer that buys it but also generated leads for bigger storage and disaster recovery solutions. Managed via their own portal resellers will be amazed at how easy this is to sell and administer. They will also be impressed by the price and, with the opportunity to sell multiple licences to every customer, by how much revenue and margin they can make.”
