Infrasys Wins Major Contract to Supply Police Force

Kent Police has appointed IT Infrastructure integration specialists, Infrasys, to deliver a six figure critical IT storage environment.

The implementation will put them at the forefront of current moves to adopt highly cost effective state of the art iSCSI technology for data storage and disaster recovery.

Kent Police has selected Infrasys and its scaleable EqualLogic Storage Area Network (SAN) solution for its high performance, reliability and functionality. Infrasys' solution will allow the police force to enjoy all the benefits of a fibre channel network at a fraction of the cost, ensuring it will not have to purchase costly long term support or contend with annual license fees in the process. It will save the force money.

The new solution will provide a malleable platform on which the Kent Police can later refine its system further by consolidating servers through virtualisation, maximising its hardware to save energy and space. This rationalisation process could deliver additional storage capability at the click of a button.

Infrasys is set to seamlessly integrate the SAN into existing server architecture using a series of the very latest EqualLogic PS arrays at central and off-site locations. The deployment is expected to be complete within four weeks.

John Edwards-Moss, Project Manager at Kent Police said: “Storage is central to the organisation’s functionality so it is paramount that we have a robust, scaleable system that matches our budget. Infrasys offered us a technically sound solution that will enable us to develop and grow the system over time. The iSCSI technology translates into a value for money solution that fits our needs. We look forward to enjoying piece of mind that we have an innovative and flexible storage facility for our highly valued business data.”

Neil Finnegan, from Infrasys, said: “Like many organisations, Kent Police has data storage at the heart of its daily operations. This is only set to increase over time. To that end, it is paramount that they have a dependable SAN that can be developed as the organisation evolves. The EqualLogic solution will provide for all their needs and more.

Importantly, Kent Police is leading the way in adopting the very latest iSCSI technology, which provides for advanced levels of data storage and accessibility in a best value package. That means fibre channel levels of capability without the cost.”
