Jo leaves her Mark at Aerofone

After 23 years at the helm of Aerofone, one of the first Independent mobile service providers, Jo Marks, CEO and founder, has decided the time is right to hand the responsibility over and find new challenges.

Mike Morris, current director of business development, will be taking over the reins at Aerofone as managing director, with immediate effect. Morris brings a wealth of experience to the position, having previously managed a number of acquired service providers over his nine years with Vodafone.

Marks explained her decision: “I believe that it is the right time to leave. I am extremely proud of Aerofone’s enormous success having just won the coveted accolade of Best Customer Service for the Mobile Industry in the UK at the recent Mobile News Awards (also finishing in the top three for the previous nine years). I have had a fantastic and exciting time in the mobile phone industry and it was a great honour to be voted Industry Personality of the Year in 2006. I feel that the time is now right to hand over the helm.”

Commenting on Aerofone, the company that she started in 1985 and sold to the Icelandic telecom group Síminn in March 2007, Marks said: “I leave behind me a great team, with a great future, in very capable hands. The business is transitioning from a mobile business into a true information communication technology organisation and I look forward to seeing Aerofone achieve more awards in the future.”
