Keynote Systems Mobile Performance Index for May

Google continues to improve its mobile download time with an extremely quick speed of 2.07 seconds, according to the latest Keynote Systems Mobile Performance Index. Once again, said Nisheeth Mohan, product manager for mobile at Keynote Systems, this is the fastest time of all the mobile sites monitored this month by around half a second.

Facebook came in second with a download time of 2.35 seconds, noted Mohan. The BBC secured the third spot with a time of 4.90 seconds. These three sites were the only ones with an average download time of less than five seconds in May.

Mohan added: “MSN took just under nine seconds on average to download this month. As smartphones continue to improve in functionality, it is clear consumers will not tolerate slow mobile download speeds like this for long.

“Euronews was the most reliable site with an average availability of 96.56%. Despite its slow download spead, MSN joined Yahoo in joint second in this category with 96.06% availability. Despite its good performance in response times, Google continued to have reliability issues and came in last with an average availability of 89.43%,” he concluded.
