Lumia Success for Tech Data Mobile

Tech Data Mobile claims it has seen its business sales of Lumia smartphones get off to a flying start, achieving tremendous partner breadth amongst IT-focused corporate and SMB resellers as well as specialist mobile dealers. It is now gearing up for a further expected surge in activity fuelled by the launch of Windows 10 and the launch of new Lumia models in the final third of the year.

In the company’s current financial year (since 1st February 2015), Tech Data Mobile says around 300 resellers have purchased Lumia devices from the company and it sees this number rising significantly as B2B activity picks up after the end of the summer holiday period. Tech Data Mobile confidently expects the number of trading accounts for Lumia to have reached more than 400 by the end of the calendar year.

Innovative propositions and the availability of lifecycle services for Lumia devices have helped resellers drive rapid uptake of Lumia in both the commercial and public sectors, with Tech Data Mobile supporting several major wins over the past few weeks.

David Brassington, Vendor Director at Tech Data Mobile, said: “Our Lumia B2B sales are going from strength to strength. We recorded our biggest ever week of Lumia sales recently and momentum is really building up. With the release of Windows 10 and the promise of a whole new range of Lumia models on the horizon, we expect continued strong growth and plenty of new opportunities to arise for resellers.”

Tech Data Mobile’s focus and commitment was rewarded recently with the exclusive distribution rights for the Lumia 640 Dual SIM smartphone. This is the first time Microsoft has released a device in the UK addressing this fast-growing sector of the market. Brassington said: “SIM-free is becoming more popular due to its cost-effectiveness and flexibility. There is a huge opportunity to migrate customers away from buying fixed-term contracts from operators to taking more flexible options from a trusted ICT advisor that has the capability to integrate devices with the existing IT and mobile data infrastructure.”
