Magirus Secures Channel Veteran

Magirus, one of the leading European IT systems and software distributors, has announced the creation of a new UK Security division and the appointment of Niall McGrane as its director.

The new division has been created following reseller demand and strong growth of Magirus’s European and UK business. McGrane will take up the new position with immediate effect and will be responsible for developing the division, complementing the existing business of systems integration and services including virtualisation.

The new security division will develop a best-of-breed portfolio of established and emerging security software applications, hardware and services, creating opportunities for existing as well as new partners. This includes the creation of a new team combining technical security and business development expertise with which to support partners.

Based at Magirus UK’s headquarters in Bracknell, Berkshire, McGrane will report to Andrew Binding, managing director for Magirus UK. McGrane has over 20 years experience in IT, security and the channel and will build the new division. In addition to his UK responsibilities, McGrane will assist in the development of the Magirus’s security business across Europe.

Previously McGrane was Security general manager at Azlan, the networking distributor, before which he was security divisional director at the IT infrastructure distributor, InTechnology. Prior to that, he spent over six years developing UK and European channel operations for a number of US vendors spanning networking and security, including Cabletron (now Enterasys).

Andrew Binding commented, “The creation of the new Security division is a key step in our strategy to differentiate our business by offering leading technologies and services to our partners. This will be a complementary centre of excellence which will generate strong growth in new business areas. He added: “McGrane brings a wealth of security, channel and business experience to provide exceptional service to partners in support of the Division.”
