Mobile-Based Hosted PBX supports PTT

TeleWare, the provider of communications solutions for mobile and distributed workers, has announced immediate availability of an exciting new development integrating Push To Talk (PTT) capabilities into its hosted solution for Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC).

PTT provides 2-way radio-style communications utilising the latest GSM networking technologies. The ability to communicate instantly with colleagues from your mobile in the same way you would using a walkie-talkie provides considerable cost savings on calls since the voice traffic is sent as data and only charged for while it is being sent / received.

PTT services allow communications on a one-to-one or group broadcast basis. Push to Talk over Cellular (POC) provides this capability on the most common single device in use in business today - the GSM mobile phone. This is highly convenient to the user as it removes the need to carry separate radio and mobile handsets. PTT is a fast, cost efficient and convenient way to communicate with contacts, whether in your office or on the other side of the world.

PTT operates using GPRS data across GSM networks and is, therefore, fully compatible with the hosted Private Mobile Extension service.

“PTT on your mobile allows you to keep in instant contact with your colleagues. Using PTT is much quicker than dialling a number and waiting for an answer,” explained Steve Haworth, CEO for TeleWare Plc, “The call is routed over the private GSM network using GPRS and it works just like a walkie-talkie. Multiple users on connected PME networks can use Push To Talk for cross-site communications and the business can replace walkie-talkies or other radio systems and use a single handset for both mobile and PTT,” added Haworth.
