MobileIron Deploys Unified Security for Windows Phone

MobileIron has announced support for Windows Phone 8.1. The new capabilities of Windows Phone 8.1 build on MobileIron’s existing Windows Phone deployments to unify security and management for enterprise use.

Microsoft has invested deeply in Windows Phone to make this new release of the operating system ready for the enterprise. Windows Phone 8.1 is the latest step in an architectural shift across all Windows 8 operating systems to a sandboxed application computing model with well-defined interfaces to platforms like MobileIron for security and management.

The MobileIron enterprise mobility management (EMM) platform provides CIOs with a unified solution to secure and manage Windows 8.1 phones, tablets, and PCs, alongside other operating systems such as Android, iOS, and Mac OS X. When deployed with MobileIron, Windows Phone 8.1 devices are well suited for company-wide initiatives like mobile apps, BlackBerry migration, and BYOD.

“The image-and-wipe model of PC-era management is going away. We now live in a world of multiple operating systems, personally owned devices, and proliferating mobile apps,” said Ojas Rege, Vice President of Strategy at MobileIron. “With Windows Phone 8.1, Microsoft has embraced this new Mobile First era, and our customers can now bring all Windows 8.1 platforms into the consistent security and management framework of MobileIron.”
