MobiTV records best live mobile TV week ever

MobiTV streamed 59 live events last week which accounted for 170 hours of its total programming. The top three drivers of volume were live events from NFL, College Football and NASCAR.

The college football coverage is part of the season-long delivery of more than 100 games, all five BCS bowl games and 30 other bowl games, as well as analysis and highlights from ESPN’s top college football programs, streamed through the ESPN Mobile channel in the MobiTV branded application.

The professional football games were delivered through the NFL Mobile application, which is powered by MobiTV.

MobiTV, which launched an enhanced look and feel of its branded application this summer, reported the average viewing time per session by end users has doubled, and subscribers have increased 30% in 2010.

MobiTV streamed more than 100 million minutes of live game and event coverage during the recent 2010 FIFA World Cup, which validated the demand for high profile live events for the mobile television audience.

“The volume of content we’re delivering with 100% up time showcases the reliability and scalability of our technology platform,” said Charlie Nooney, CEO, MobiTV. “Consumers want access to their content wherever they are, and our platform is designed to deliver on that promise.”
