Nimans seek to maintain grip on headset market

Nimans is set to consolidate its position as UK market leader in Bluetooth headsets with the launch of Plantronics’ latest wireless innovation, the Voyager 510. By linking the headset to Voyager’s base unit users can transform a regular business phone into a Bluetooth device. This enables the headset to be paired with both desk and mobile phones so that it can handle all their wireless communications, whether within and outside the office.

By marrying the latest V1.2 Bluetooth technology - which reduces the possibility of interference - with multipoint capability, the Voyager can also be paired with up to eight Bluetooth devices that support headset or hands-free profiles - including laptops and PDAs. Users can even remain connected to their mobile whist accepting incoming calls from those devices. In addition, outgoing calls can be placed from any device, with the call then automatically being transferred to the lightweight and compact headset, which weighs in at just 15g and features a swivelling boom so it can be worn on either ear.

“The pairing of land and mobile phones to a single headset is clearly a big advantage in many office and call centre environments,” commented Nimans’ Head of Indirect Sales, Nigel Raine. “We anticipate that the arrival of a headset which offers such impressive functionality and yet is so light and compact will create enormous interest.”

That functionality includes a noise cancelling microphone for clearer voice transmission, a handy fold away design for easy storage, easy to use headset volume and mute controls and lithium battery technology which gives up to six hours talk time and 100 hours stand-by time. Optional accessories include USB and car chargers, an on line indicator for office use, a carry case and a handset lifter that allows users to answer their desk phone from up to 10m away.
