Nine Telecom Group and FCS Announce Recruitment Drive for the Channel Army

Nine Telecom Group has reached a long term agreement to join forces with the Federation of Communication Services (FCS) to mobilise the Channel Army in telecoms.

Nine Telecom Group agrees with the FCS that dealer and reseller voices need to be heard, so that industry legislation and regulation are not allowed to damage the interests of the channel. There are several key issues currently under review, such as how Next Generation Access Voice will be made available to the channel by BT and European Directives on contract length in the telecommunications industry.

Nine Telecom Group are now actively seeking dealer and reseller recruits to join the Channel Army and will be offering to subsidise FCS membership fees and access to FCS code of practice services for all their partners who join up.

Commenting on the agreement, James Palmer, CEO of Nine Telecom Group stated, “The FCS currently has only a part of the UK reseller sector as members and I believe it is vitally important that we increase this number, so that together we can ensure that the channel’s views and interests are as well represented as possible in all the regulatory and legislative forums that affect our industry. Nine Telecom Group has made a long term commitment to support the FCS by helping to recruit telephony members and sponsoring regional and annual meetings for the next three years. d I also look forward to welcoming FCS representatives to our stand at Convergence Summit South from 5th to 6th October. Palmer continued, “I am delighted that Nine Telecom Group will be a platinum sponsor at the annual Comms Provider event on October 12th where I will be speaking about the role of the Channel Army.”

FCS CEO Jacqui Brookes OBE said, “FCS values this initiative and the support of Nine Telecom Group in strengthening the voice of telephony resellers. This is a critical time for independent service providers who provide essential support to the SME sector. FCS is commissioning independent research to ensure that the value of this contribution and the needs of resellers are fully recognised by government and the regulator.”
