Networks & Network Services
Nokia UK has appointed Brightpoint as its primary business-to-business distributor and awarded it ‘Approved Partner Status’, as a result of a distribution strategy review.

The contract will come into force with immediate effect (13th October 2008), and Brightpoint will be responsible for the distribution of Nokia devices, services, accessories and software across the UK.

Commenting on the decision, Head of Business Mobility at Nokia UK, Adrian Williams said: “We are very pleased to appoint Brightpoint as our selected business-to-business distributor. During the tender process, Brightpoint demonstrated the highest level of understanding and commitment required to help support us in driving both traditional and non-traditional channels.”

The appointment of Brightpoint further supports Nokia’s renewed business mobility strategy. It now plans to work more closely with industry leading partners such as Cisco, Microsoft and IBM, enabling it to address broader markets and for our business customers to leverage their existing infrastructure.

Adrian Williams continues: “UK businesses are seeking to embrace mobility as an integral part of their operations and the number of organizations providing employees with a mobile device continues to rise. Nokia’s objective is to open up the full potential of the business market, bringing businesses and business users the best user experience for their devices and solutions”.

A key testimony to Nokia’s robust relationships with partners, is the success of Microsoft Mail for Exchange. The application is now delivered on over 40 Nokia S60 3rd edition devices, enabling over 80 million Nokia mobile device owners worldwide to connect remotely to their work email accounts. Also for smaller businesses, Mail for Exchange offers easy set-up and use of over 1,000 ISP email services from around the world.

The distribution strategy review has been a key focus for Nokia UK over the last 12 months and the process undertaken has been extremely thorough. “We appreciate the time and energy from the other distributors involved, and would like to thank them for their efforts,” Williams said.

Nokia Approved Partner Status recognises that the supplier is an official distributor of Nokia devices and/or accessories. This status will only be awarded to those suppliers who meet the highest standards and are able to showcase the breadth and depth of the Nokia devices, services and accessory range.
