Nortel Put Together New SME Team

Nortel has appointed Moreno Ciboldi as vice president Sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), as part of its ongoing drive to strengthen its Enterprise Business.

Speaking to Comms Business Magazine, Ciboldi said Nortel has the best all round product portfolio for business communications in the industry.

“My role at Nortel is far wider than the SMB and channel I looked after at Avaya. I have already taken steps to recruit a number of key personnel to further boost our presence in the market and the team will be very strong.”

Ciboldi brings to Nortel more than 20 years of experience in the IT industry, having worked for companies including Avaya and Alcatel. At Nortel, Ciboldi will be responsible for looking after Global Accounts, Advanced Services, IVR , Contact Centre and SMB market sectors. In addition he will drive SI/SO's and 2 tier distribution partners across the EMEA region.

He will be based from both Nortel offices in Milan, Italy and Nortel’s EMEA headquarters in Maidenhead, UK. Ciboldi added that most of his direct reports work in the UK.

Reporting to Peter Kelly, president Enterprise, EMEA, Ciboldi will be working with the regions to define a strategic and visionary go to market approach, focusing on distribution, system integration and channels. Ciboldi’s previous role at Avaya included leading the company’s SMB market strategy in EMEA, and this deep understanding of the sector market will be invaluable in driving sales of Nortel’s expanded small business solution portfolio.

Peter Kelly, president, Enterprise for Nortel in Europe and the Middle East and Africa said, “Nortel has set aggressive goals to drive business in services, unified communications and the small, medium business market. Nortel has the leading edge technologies and partnerships to meet this challenge, with strong sales execution being the final part of the equation. Moreno Ciboldi’s wealth of experience will be a fantastic asset to us when pursuing this strategy in EMEA”.

“I am very excited to be joining Nortel”, said Moreno Ciboldi, when asked about his new role “This is a time of tremendous and positive change for the networking industry and Nortel is well equipped to win in key battle grounds.”

Ciboldi lives in Milan and is an avid Football Fan. “Last year I had a season ticket for Inter Milan but have not bothered this year as winning Seria A will be too easy. I have however already put a framed picture of the Italian World Cup winning squad on the wall in my office in Maidenhead.”
