Opal Questions BT’s Response to Opal Broadband Initiative

In an exchange of words from both Opal and BT surrounding Monday’s announcement that Opal is set to disrupt the Market with their low cost Business Broadband Opal has fired another shot across the bows of BT’s immediate price cutting move of the same day.

Paul Lawton, Managing Director at Opal has said, “We welcome today’s announcement from BT that it has cut the price of its business broadband offerings, but would ask why they have done this now, and why the prices have previously remained so high for so long? I’m sure many BT business customers will be left asking how much money the company was making before it announced such a large cut.

"BT Option 3 is now £30 per month and features up to 8Mb downstream and 448Kb upstream. Our offering features up to 24Mb downstream and more importantly a 1Mb upstream speed so we would argue that Opal Office Broadband still offers far better value for money and that many business customers may feel BT still has not gone far enough.

Opal Office broadband is designed especially for businesses and features network prioritisation, and the ability to tailor the product for each individual’s business need with the addition of our innovative range of business builders for just £6 a month."
