Opal raises record amount for charity

Opal, the committed provider of next generation communication technologies for the channel, has raised more than £12K for BEN, the Motor and Allied Trades Benevolent Fund.

Jerry Bart, National Manager Automotive Division, of Opal, presented BEN with a cheque for £12,017.82 at this year’s Automotive Distribution Federation dinner, an annual event held by the UK’s automotive trade association.

BEN provides practical, emotional and financial support to anyone who works in, or has worked in, the automotive industry. BEN’s nationwide team of welfare officers currently provide assistance to more than 15,000 people on a wide range of issues ranging from disabilities to depression, loneliness and poverty.

The amount is the largest sum ever raised for the charity by Opal, which has been supporting BEN since 2000. Opal donates 2.5 per cent of the revenue raised from every call made by those customers registered under the BEN scheme.

Opal presented its donation at the ADF dinner which saw a total of £34,166.73 raised for BEN.

Nathan Stenson, Wholesale Channel Director for Opal said: “BEN is a fantastic charity and we’re very proud to support them. They’re entirely dependent on donations to survive and they provide an invaluable service to the people that they support.”
