ramsac, the IT solutions consultancy based in Godalming, Surrey, has announced the launch of its tape-based off-site back-up service – ramsac collect. Storing data offsite is an important precautionary measure to ensure an organisation can remain operational should, for example, a power shortage, flooding or fire compromise a place of work. With ramsac collect all relevant data tapes are highly encrypted and routinely retrieved by its secure collection service, then stored at a state of the art ‘safe farm’.
ramsac connect is available to all organisations throughout the UK. The new service ensures data that is critical to the running of the organisation is immediately checked in to the system, logged and securely archived upon arrival at the ‘safe farm’. Should the data be required ramsac immediately dispatches and delivers the encrypted data to any designated location in the UK, where it can be reinstated to ensure business as usual.
Subscribers to ramsac collect will benefit from an initial audit of the organisation’s data backup strategy and an IT Continuity Plan. Managing Director of ramsac, Robert May explains the demand for this innovative new service, “Many organisations do not have the correct routines in place for their tape-based data backup. They may think that their data is being stored safely, but it is only when the information is needed that they discover that it cannot be retrieved. Add to this the dangers associated with storing your organisations most valuable commodity in only one place and ramsac connect is an ideal and cost effective solution.”
The new ramsac collect service follows the launch of the phoenixassist IT disaster recovery service by ramsac in September 2008. Essentially a business continuity insurance policy, for just £100 per month, ramsac is able to provide any organisation operating in the UK with immediate access to a 12 seat serviced office, dedicated file server, broadband Internet connection and telephone line, should their main office be compromised.
