With roamline customers only pay € 0.39 (£ 0.32) per MB in all European countries, the USA and Canada. That's almost half of the EU-imposed tariff (€ 0.70) that European operators will be charging as of 1 July. In all other countries, customers pay € 0.89 (£ 0.72) per MB when they use roamline.
Usage is charged per 1 KB in arrears by debiting the customer's credit card, meaning that customers never run out of credit. Customers cannot place calls or send text messages with a roamline SIM card unless they use a voice-over-IP application such as Skype, Viber or Tango.
The company behind roamline is Dutch mobile telecom operator, KPN. With roamline, KPN focuses on international business travellers. In KPN’s local market, the Netherlands, there are many roaming services available. Therefore roamline is intended for customers outside the Dutch market. KPN has decided to first focus on customers from the UK. And within a month roamline will also be promoted in France.
