Ryedale Boss is Double Award Winner

Ryedale Telecom boss Alice Adams struck gold at the Yorkshire Business Awards 2006 – twice.

Adams was named Business Personality Of The Year and also claimed the Woman In Enterprise Award.

She took the accolades ahead of numerous other entries from businesses across North and East Yorkshire. Judges of the awards, organised by the York Press newspaper, praised her “force of will” and “determination to succeed”.

Alice was presented with the awards during a glittering ceremony at York Racecourse, hosted by television presenter Colin Hazelden.

“It was a fantastic night. With such tough competition, I was thrilled to even be nominated,” she said.

“To win not one award but two was a huge shock – but an extremely happy one.”

Alice dedicated the awards to the 11-strong staff at her firm’s offices in the Pocklington Business Centre.

“The Ryedale Telecom team have worked very hard to make the business a leader in the field ahead of many much bigger rivals. Their efforts have put us on course to double turnover to £3 million this year.”

A legal linguist for 20 years, Alice built up her business after recovering from a car accident which left her severely injured. She began by brokering telecoms deals from a desk on the landing of her Kirkbymoorside home in 1999.
