Siemens has advised all their channel sales outlets that new sales of the HiPath BizIP platform ceased on 1 September 2008, and that maintenance will cease on 31 July 2009.
The product was launched as recently as November 2006. Targeted at the SoHo market BizIP won the Best of CeBIT Award 2006 in the IP Telephony category. At the time of the launch Siemens said the product requires low up-front investment and is easy to install, simple to scale up and incurs minimal handling, training and support costs.
The Siemens reseller of today does however have more options for this market; in particular the OpenOffice ME has more bells and whistles on board and is cost effective for smaller users.
