Sovereign Business integration group appoints Lorna Leonard as finance director

Sovereign Business Integration Group (Sovereign announces the appointment of Lorna Leonard as Finance Director. Within this role Lorna will join the Sovereign Board, advising at both a strategic and operational level and undertaking a number of key tasks including the development, implementation and maintenance of the Company’s financial and commercial strategies.

Most pertinent to her new role at Sovereign is one of Lorna’s previous positions in the supply chain and logistics industry. Lorna’s past experience at pharmaceutical warehousing and logistics provider, Healthcare Logistics (now Movianto), saw her heavily involved in the operational side of the industry and business, giving her an appreciation of business requirements specific to that industry from a customer and supplier perspective but also business requirements as a whole, particularly at a client-service level.

Lorna explains, “The operational experience I gained from my role in the supply chain and logistics industry really gave me my grounding and appreciation, away from a purely finance role, of how a business runs and how to deliver as an integral part of that business in terms of client service.” She continues, “In finance, things are quite often black or white; however, with an insight into how supply chain and logistics companies use information in their business and being in a client-facing role, my approach to business evolved dramatically. I consider this skill will be particularly key at Sovereign given the customer-centric nature of the company, its work within the supply chain and logistics industry and the business value-add that I can provide to the company and its clients.”

Credited as an ‘Accountancy Age Award’ finalist in 2010 and a fully qualified accountant, Lorna also brings to this role over 25 years’ experience of working within the busy Finance Departments of other large scale companies across various sectors.

On her new role, Lorna comments, “I am extremely excited to take on the role of Finance Director at Sovereign. Working with an incredibly diverse, talented and committed team of people, I will be focusing on working together with them to contribute to the development of the company’s strategic and business plans, particularly in relation to financial and commercial decisions, in support of the company’s vision and core objectives. My new role comes at a time when Sovereign is growing and expanding rapidly and I look forward to sharing my knowledge and skills with the team and contributing to the company’s continued success.”

Through implementing strategic and proactive IT solutions, Sovereign has achieved a strong reputation of successfully collaborating with its clients, helping them maximise business processes and IT resources. Sovereign’s solutions are specifically designed to positively impact on the bottom line, while the managed services provide consistently reliable support offering customers a high level of confidence in all associated and integrated systems.

Richard Barker, CEO, Sovereign Business Integration Group, comments, “We are delighted to have Lorna joining our team. Her past roles in strategic business planning and also within one of our client’s organisations will provide valuable insight into how we can further our working practices and continue to deliver at the highest possible standard as an organisation, not only client-facing but in our own operational processes. Lorna will be a tremendous asset to our company and we welcome her to the Sovereign Board.”
