Spectralink Expands IP Telephony Support

Wireless telephony vendor Spectralink has expanded its enterprise telephone system interoperability by adding support for Digium’s Asterisk Business Edition, the professional version of the popular open-source IP PBX application.

Spectralink’s Wi-Fi-based Netlink Wireless Telephones and DECT-based KIRK systems will support the SIP protocol for interfacing with the Asterisk platform.

“Adding a reliable wireless telephone provider to the Asterisk ecosystem is an important step in providing a comprehensive IP PBX solution for the enterprise market,” said Bill Miller, vice president of Product Management and Marketing for Digium. “Spectralink’s support for open standards gives customers more choices for endpoints certified with Asterisk Business Edition.”

“A key factor in Spectralink’s success is integration with our customers’ telephone systems to deliver critical business features on our wireless handsets,” said Ben Guderian, Spectralink vice president of Marketing. “Supporting Asterisk Business Edition demonstrates our commitment to standards and is important as we bring enterprise-grade wireless telephony into the growing SMB market.”
