Stephen Thompson Appointed as New CEO for Indigo Telecom Group

Telecommunications support services specialist Indigo Telecom Group has appointed Stephen Thompson as CEO. He succeeds Mark Orchart who will move to the newly created post of commercial director.

Thompson, (age 50) joins Indigo, part of the Team Telecom Group, from Technicolor where he was Vice-President sales for Northern Europe. He has previously held senior sales and operational management roles with major international telecoms companies, including: Alcatel-Lucent, Nokia and AT&T.

The move comes at a critical time for Indigo as telecoms companies across Europe are looking to deploy more advanced services for both fixed-line and mobile communications which require outsourced installation, maintenance and network management to support their expansion plans. The appointment of a CEO with a strong sales background was seen as essential in order to take full advantage of the growth opportunities this created.

Commenting on the appointment, Mike Norfield, CEO of parent company Team Telecom Group said, “Stephen has worked at the highest levels in the global telecoms industry and he will be a great asset to the company as we continue to build our international support services business with major global carriers and network operators in fixed mobile and wireless communications.”

Mark Orchart, in his new role as Commercial Director will focus on the operational side of the business and he will work alongside Thompson to ensure a smooth transition. Norfield added, “This is a complex business with high levels of compliance required. Mark’s proven organisational and planning skills will be a key part of our success in the future.”
