BAR Honda F1 use an Avaya 8700 Communications Manager, recently installed by STL, to support 500 users in the UK and at trackside locations around the world using voice over IP.
STL guests had full access to all team operations including the BAR garage and they were able to see first hand how IP telephony is helping the team gain a competitive advantage.
David France, Head of IT for BAR Honda said ‘IP telephony helps to provide us with a competitive advantage and it has reduced our trackside operating costs by more than 30%’.
Mark Kinder of Elliott Hire added, ‘it’s a great location for a seminar and one that is able to demonstrate IP telephony, the speakers were excellent and we were able to experience voice over IP for ourselves on the BAR network’.
So, will STL be looking to hold more seminars advocating the benefits of IP telephony? ‘Without doubt’, said Brendon Cross, MD of STL, ‘this event is one of several we are planning in the UK and at the trackside to showcase the benefits of IP telephony in an extreme environment. Barcelona is a short flight which means our guests are not required to stay overnight’.
