Brendon Cross, MD of Witney based STL Communications, was the player manager of a Special Effect football team that played an Arsenal charity side on Sunday 18th September at Witney Town’s stadium. Although the Special Effect team lost 6-3, they raised over £2000 for the charity, which has rugby’s Matt Hampson as a patron.

Special Effect is an Oxfordshire charity dedicated to helping all young people with physical and learning disabilities to enjoy computer games. For these children, the majority of computer games are simply too quick or too difficult to play, but Special Effect helps them and their parents to find out which games they can play, and how to adapt those games that they can’t. Success with using this technology can lead to huge gains in self-confidence and motivation, and can provide a way for young people with disabilities to compete with others on a level playing field.

STL’s managing director, Brendon Cross commented, ”STL was delighted to be asked to take part in the Special Effect charity football match and to play our part with the fundraising.”
