TeleCity selected by BT for 2006 Winter Olympics

Colocation, data centre and managed services company TeleCity has been chosen by BT for its core infrastructure services and fibre connectivity to help facilitate broadcasting of the 2006 Winter Olympics, which takes place in Turin, Italy from 10–26 February next year.

BT is providing European connectivity to cover the XXth Olympic Winter Games. In the run up to and duration of the Games, TeleCity will provide fibre connectivity between BT servers and Telecom Italia’s network in its Harbour Exchange data centre in London.

Martin Maters, general manager data transport services, BT Global Services, said: “TeleCity offered us the most appropriate data centre environment and infrastructure for this particular event. Their carrier-neutral services demonstrate consistently high levels of performance, which is imperative for an event of this magnitude.”
