TeleWare provides ASP Services for BT Featurenet

TeleWare, the provider of intelligent business communication solutions to large and medium Enterprise and Service Providers, has announced the successful completion of the migration of over 60 corporate and public sector customers, representing over 21,000 users and including two of the UK’s major banks, to TeleWare Application Services (TAS).

“TeleWare proved to be an excellent technology partner when O2 decided to close their business down, they worked closely with us to ensure our customers continued to get the best possible service and were able to run a wide selection of value added business applications on their Featurenet service,” said Pete Donovan, Head of BT Featurenet. “The Featurenet network is highly complex and TeleWare has established an excellent understanding of the interworking requirements and provided a seamless migration path for the O2 Messaging customers.”

TAS, an Application Service Provider (ASP), was established in January 2004 specifically to host TeleWare applications for delivery through the BT Featurenet VPN and to be the preferred Messaging and Mobility platform for BT and 02 customers. TeleWare was the incumbent strategic supplier to mm02 which previously provided corporate messaging for BT. When 02 decided messaging was not its core business, TeleWare worked jointly with O2 and BT to enable an alternative solution, setting up an ASP to directly support those customers who would have been seriously disadvantaged by the closure of the 02 corporate messaging service.

The 02 corporate messaging service was scheduled to close at the end of December 2004 and TeleWare has successfully completed the migration of all the customers that requested ongoing services directly over to TeleWare at the TAS data centre. Today, TAS supports both Featurenet and independent corporate and public service customers and has over 21,000 connected users taking services such as personal numbering, auto attendant, unified messaging and IVR.

TeleWare’s services are hosted on the TAS platforms at its data centre in Thirsk. The centre currently has 420 Featurenet lines connecting to the Featurenet network, making these applications available to corporate nationwide.
