The American School in London calls in Foehn for new telephony system

The American School in London now has in place a modern, feature-rich and lower-cost telephony system, thanks to independent managed communications provider, Foehn. The new system is designed to improve even further communication among staff, parents and pupils, with the added aim of lowering the school’s overall telecommunications costs.

The school’s old ISDN telephone system has been replaced by Foehn with a modern IP PBX (Private Branch Exchange) that connects to the public telephone exchange and delivers a mix of traditional and cheaper VoIP calls.

The new Switchvox system, which includes 250 VoIP-enabled handsets, provides the school with a host of new telephony features including instant messaging, call recording, and the ability for staff to check instantly who is in and out of the school.

James Passingham, managing director of Foehn said: “Getting the best deal on communications is important for any organisation but even more so for schools that need to invest their money in new technologies wisely. The American School in London prides itself on its spirit of community and family and it is clear that its communication system plays an important role in keeping staff, parents and pupils connected.”

By going the open source route, the school no longer needs to contend with overly complex communications technology and hidden costs. And it now benefits from a range of telephony features that allow staff members to get a lot more out of their new system. The IP PBX comes pre-installed with pre-configured features, ideal for VoIP telephony, and is simple to deploy and manage.

James added: ‘We’re delighted to be supporting the American School in London and are confident their new communications set up will benefit everyone connected with the school.”
