Tiscali kicks off broadband hogs

Tiscali UK has kicked off just over 500 of its broadband users for excessive use of their broadband service. the company has reported that banwidth hogs have used between 30 gig & 150 gig a month - The average customer users less than 1 gig per month.

Tiscai put out a statement saying "like other ISPs, Tiscali has a small portion of very heavy users. This group of less than one percent currently hog around 30% of the total bandwidth. It is therefore necessary for us to protect the service the 99% of considerable customers by establishing an acceptable guideline for user and service notice of termination, which we are able to do within the scope of our current Terms & Conditions for those who are affecting the quality of service for others.
