Toshiba Pulls Out of UK Telephony Market!

MSPs
The Rumour Mill has been working over time here at the Comms Business Office! Just last week we were tipped off by a few of our reseller friends that Toshiba is planning a UK Telephony market exit. We heard the company is "moving into a technical support phase" later in the year.

After approaching the manufacturer we were given the following statement, “After careful consideration, Toshiba has decided to move its IP Edge and Strata CIX products into technical support phase on the 1st June 2016 for the UK and Irish market. Toshiba is committed to providing ongoing technical, licensing and spares support to its partners and customers and is already in communication with relevant parties regarding this decision to assist in their current and future planning.”

This news comes as the troubled conglomerate has said it will report a record 550bn yen ($4.5bn) annual loss and cut 6,800 jobs as it carries out a restructuring. The restructuring comes after Toshiba admitted earlier this year that it had overstated profits for six years.

Look out for more on this in the next issue of Comms Business!
