UKFast Bucks Industry Trend for Female Directors

MSPs
UKFast is flying in the face of recent research by Experian which shows an increase in female directors is mitigated by little change in the types of industries where women hold senior positions.

The study revealed that although there has been a 24% increase in female directors since 2007, hairdressing, primary education and social work remained the industries dominated by all-female boards.

By comparison UKFast has appointed two female directors in the last six months, in the traditionally male-dominated technology sector. Charlotte Bentley-Crane has taken on the role of director of account management while Elizabeth Donevan is now the firm’s director of communications.

In addition, UKFast has created a brand new all-female recruitment team to manage the company’s drive to recruit 200 people over the next 18 months. The Dreams Team is sourcing applicants for all areas of the business, from marketing and sales to data centres and technical support.

UKFast CEO and founder Lawrence Jones said: “Women in our workplace are essential. They are great communicators and organisers, and life would be very dull without the dynamic that mixing men and women together brings. There’s no denying that we operate in a predominantly male industry but I’m proud that here at UKFast we are doing our level best to improve the positions of women in technology.”
