Understanding the VoIP Opportunity

Distributor EFL has announced a series of free half day seminars for VAR’s & system Integrator’s aimed at helping them understand the various VoIP options available today in the UK.

Steve Jones, Head of VoIP at EFL stated, “The world is going VoIP, or rather SIP. Increased bandwidths, standardised protocols and a growing number of good quality ITSPs (Internet Telephony Service Providers) means that VoIP is a technology which can be implemented effectively by all organisations. The opportunity for Value Added Resellers & System Integrators is enormous”.

EFL cite that in their opinion the sub-50 user IP extension market growing at 70-80% CAGR, carrier pre-select revenues are being squeezed - 20% drop in PSTN minutes on BT Network, SMB IP telephony spending will exceed $4.5 billion in 2008, a CAGR of around 40% and that the IP-PBX market will exceed the legacy private branch exchange market by 2006.

The distributor adds that they believe only 12% of small businesses wanted a hosted service while 67% wanted a premise based or hybrid solution

“What does all this mean for the channel? How does a reseller work out what VoIP solution is best for them…or more importantly their customers?” concludes Jones.

The EFL seminars are being held in November and December in Reading, Manchester and Leicester.
