VoIP Centrex Market Grows Rapidly But Fails to Fulfil Promise for Small Business

In the latest edition to their quarterly Convergence Bulletin, illume reveal a significant upturn in the numbers of UK Business users of ‘Centrex style’ VoIP

With over a 50% growth in just 3 months, the UK market now stands at over 154,000 users and shows no signs of slowing down. illume also took the opportunity to analyse the distribution of this growth, reporting that in addition to some ‘predictable’ large government contracts, the key focus of activity had been within the 50 – 99 ‘seat’ arena. It was noted that relative to perceived opportunity, there had been surprisingly little penetration of the sub 10 seat community.

Matthew Townend illumes MD says; “After over two years of Centrex service being offered in the UK, we are starting to see real momentum that suggests broad market acceptance.

“It’s a shame that small business still are not receiving the benefits that IP Centrex has the potential to offer, but service providers have not built a strong and compelling proposition to this market, cheap minutes are not enough!”
