VoIP Unlimited Sign Up Portman Travel For Voice Over Ethernet

VoIP Unlimited, the specialist UK SIP trunk provider, continues to gain business in the mid-range market by signing up Portman Travel, the UK's largest independent travel management company. The business operates from sites across the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands and is listed at number 50 in this year’s Sunday Times Top Track 250.

Sales Director Steve Bieniek states: "We are pleased to see high profile businesses such as Portman adopting SIP trunking technology as part of their communications strategy. We are confident Portman will see a number of business benefits including reduced fixed line costs, instant increase of call capacity and the reduction of international call charges."

Portman opted for a 10Mb VoE (Voice Over Ethernet) service, terminating at its head office in Chertsey, Surrey, providing a conduit for Voice calls and internet access. The service is based on a secure layer 2 MPLS platform and is directly interconnected into VoIP Unlimited's core VoIP network, eliminating potential latency issues. Internet access is also provided via VoIP Unlimited's ISP service, with SDSL backup for resilience.

James Baldwin, Portman's Head of IT, says: “SIP trunking will give us with the opportunity to deploy international telephone numbers for our overseas customers, allowing them to contact us for the cost of a local call in their country. We can also have a central point of telephony, allowing us to distribute calls to specific departments across our wide area network more efficiently. This will improve our customer’s experience and will help to ensure their enquiries are processed more systematically.”

The (VoE) Voice over Ethernet service is available to any business in the UK and allows VoIP Unlimited to continue their commitment to delivering the connectivity element for business grade SIP trunks.
