Wales to get 100% Broadband

Wales will get blanket broadband coverage thanks to a deal struck with BT, the Welsh Assembly Government said earlier this week. But ministers were unable to say when the country would have 100% coverage or the cost of the deal with the telephone giant.

Economic Development Minister Andrew Davies said it was impossible to say how long it would take to eliminate broadband blackspots. The Government will provide money to update exchanges in isolated areas and small communities where it makes no commercial sense for BT to do so.

About £100 million is being invested in expanding the broadband network and on publicity.
