This marks a significant move for Wavelink as it is the first product that they have offered to the channel that is not manufactured by 2N Telecommunications in Prague. Explaining their decision to enter the competitive call management market and why they chose the Topaz product, Wavelink MD Dave Brown said “If you think about it, there is a synergy between a good call management package and our Fixed Cellular Terminals.
A lot of potential customers for FCT’s don’t believe the salesperson when he outlines the savings that can be made by using our products; however Topaz can produce reports that prove to the user exactly how much money they are wasting on calls to mobiles via their land line provider. The fact that Datatex supply FCT’s in South Africa means that they understand the benefit of highlighting the costs of calls to mobiles AND the savings that an FCT would make. In South Africa they give FCT prospects a free 30 day license at the end of which they usually get a sale of Topaz and an FCT. This is also one of the reasons that Datatex approached us to become their UK distributor”
Brown went on to stress that there are other reasons why he feels that they have “unearthed a gem with Topaz “ Obviously the product has to stand up against the established competition in this market both in terms of functionality, ease of use and most importantly price. “We aim to come to market with a reseller price significantly lower than the three major players for an unlimited user system.” Wavelink intend launching this product to their existing dealer channel partners before conducting a major offensive on the market.
Topaz is expected to be the first of a number of new products from Datatex distributed by Wavelink; they are expecting to launch a range of Voice Recording solutions in the near future.
