Westcoast moves into channel with Microsoft Lync

Exhibiting at Convergence Summit South for the first time was Westcoast, which is moving into the telecoms channel from its traditional IT crowd.

The company has combined products from key partners including HP, Microsoft and Aastra, to create a complete channel offering for Microsoft Lync.

Carl Quigley, product manager at Westcoast, stated: “We’re HP’s largest server and networking distributor, and a Microsoft software authorised distributor. We have also taken on Aastra Lync-enabled handsets and are now here to recruit new business partners to sell our solution.

“We see this telecoms arena as a good opportunity,” remarked Quigley. “This is a new market for us, and we have created a full Lync solution that we can offer to the marketplace, and provide services on the back of, including deployment and integration for more value add for the channel. We are looking for voice resellers that we have not spoken to before, as well as our traditional IT resellers.”

Westcoast was established in 1984 as an IT distributor. Its turnover this year is predicted to hit $1 billion, claimed Quigley. Westcoast is a distributor for major household names including HP, Microsoft, Apple, Samsung, and Toshiba.
