Westcon Launch Mid Market Push

Distributor Westcon has launched Accelerate, its Avaya mid-market programme designed to provide resellers with the tools they need to drive sales of Unified Communications (UC) solutions in the mid-market.

The company says Accelerate is designed to deepen resellers' understanding of UC solutions and the business benefits they can provide, such as cost reductions, increased productivity and enhanced customer service. Through ongoing product and services support, Westcon and Avaya aim to enhance the way in which UC products and solutions are sold helping to generate tangible return-on-investment (RoI) for resellers.

"Unified Communications offers great opportunities and we need to support our partners in unlocking its huge business potential," said Tim Brooks, general manager, Westcon Convergence UK. "Not only does our Accelerate programme help resellers with demand generation, but it also reduces the cost of training investments around unified communications."

The Accelerate programme was launched at Mercedes Benz World on Thursday 19th February, with over 70 resellers in attendance. Avaya and Westcon shared keynote presentations on opportunities in the mid-market and explained how resellers can promote the business benefits of UC, while demonstrating RoI. Resellers also attended solutions demonstrations from Avaya, Polycom and Extreme Networks for a more in-depth understanding of the solutions portfolio.

As part of the event, Westcon and Avaya presented their Reseller Awards, recognising sales achievements in 2008. The awards were announced as follows:

- Top Reseller Award for Communication Manager - Central Telecom

- Achievement Award for Communication Manager - Datapoint

- Top Reseller Award for IP Office - Network Europe Group Plc

- Achievement Award for IP Office - Excell Group

- Fastest Growing Reseller Award - Spitfire
