Xtreme Growth

North-east network infrastructure provider Xtreme Business Solutions has revealed that 2009 was one of its most successful years of trading, and expects further growth throughout 2010.

The Westhill-based firm recorded a turnover of over £2million for the year to the end of January, an increase of around £350,000 on the previous 12 month period.

Xtreme has recently secured a number of new contracts worth around £200,000. These wins include the installation of copper and fibre cabling at the five UK sites of international consumer health care and pharmaceutical company, Johnson & Johnson, and a network upgrade to the University of the Highlands and Islands’ 30 sites throughout the north and west of Scotland.

Graeme Duncan, managing director, Xtreme Business Solutions, said: “Despite the recession, 2009 was a successful year for Xtreme and 2010 has started very positively and we hope to build on that throughout the year, including some potential contracts overseas.

“We have secured a number of large contracts as a result of companies investing heavily in their infrastructure, either with the construction of new facilities or upgrading the capability of existing networks.

“Over the past seven years, as opportunities have arisen, we have diversified our product range, allowing us to offer a more comprehensive service to clients and we are now seeing clear benefits from this. It has also allowed the business to be more economically stable by not relying on a single business stream. We hope to continue this diversification and are looking at a number of projects, which may lead to us further strengthening our workforce.”

In December, Xtreme announced that it had created a new IT business, SunDog Services, to provide integrated business management solutions to companies, after identifying an opportunity in the market.

Mr Duncan added: “SunDog is complementing Xtreme perfectly and the value of establishing it has been remarkable. Clients are seeing the clear benefits of a robust IT system that works with their cabling, CCTV and telephony needs. We have recently secured two integrated projects worth around £150,000.”

Graeme Duncan is a finalist in the entrepreneur of the year category in the Grampian Awards for Business Enterprise.
