M2M & IoT
Pinacl, an integrated ICT systems provider based in North Wales, is pleased to announce that they have been awarded a new contract with Taunton Deane Borough Council for the provision of a public WiFi solution.

Visitors and Residents will soon be able to enjoy FREE unlimited WiFi whilst out and about in Taunton Town Centre and Train Station, Wellington and Wiveliscombe.

The CityConnect solution from Pinacl will be free to access 24/7 and has been designed to provide sufficient bandwidth for a fast and secure user experience. Pinacl chose Ruckus Wireless as their partner based on their T300 Access Points (AP’s) to provide high levels of wireless coverage, data throughput and performance. The Ruckus Wireless AP’s are also aesthetically pleasing so ensure that the wireless network is as unobtrusive as possible.

Pinacl is also working with WiFi group Purple, the intelligent spaces company, as part of the overall solution to deliver a user portal that allows users to access the internet by simply signing in via their social media accounts. Form based access will also be available for those without social media.

Mark Lowe, Strategic Director for Pinacl said “We are delighted our successful CityConnect WiFi solution has been chosen by Taunton Deane Borough Council. Free and easy to use WiFi is widely being acknowledged as a key enabler for towns and cities to create Smart Places”.

Cllr Mark Edwards, Deputy Leader of Taunton Deane Borough Council, is also responsible for business development and is delighted public WiFi is coming to Taunton, Wellington and Wiveliscombe.

He said: “We already enjoy great connectivity with superfast broadband being rolled out across the towns of the Borough. Free public WiFi will really add to our attractions for businesses, visitors and residents. As a Council we have made this investment to support the local economy and provide a welcome service for businesses, visitors and our community, I am sure it will be widely welcomed.

“I am also pleased we are working with Pinacl, a company with a track record of working with other towns and cities across the country. Taunton, Wellington and Wiveliscombe will be joining the growing list of Smart Places.”
