Neat idea: BoxBrands’ ChargeBox is a high-street kiosk for recharging mobile phones and iPods. For £1, shoppers who have run out of juice will be able to get an emergency charge in a secure locker; the ChargeBox will accept cash or an SMS payment.
At present the kiosks will be able to charge up to twenty four different brands of phones as well as iPods, BlackBerries and PDAs; BoxBrands plans to have over 1,000 ChargeBoxes in the UK by the end of the year.
