Is this the phone that will bring Nokia back from the abyss of doom? Well, it’s still early days, but it might very well be.
The Nokia Lumia 800 was announced at the end of October to the excited audience at Nokia World, and it sure looked good. We are liking both its form factor, which, although a mirror image of the N9, is very appealing and touchy feely, and its functionality that, as the first Nokia Windows smartphone on the market, looks a big step up from clunky early Windows phones from other manufacturers.
Launched in mid November in the UK, the Lumia 800 brings content to life, with animated tiles that can be customised to offer live updates from a huge selection of sources. Including the familiar Nokia elements of music, free navigation and a Carl Zeiss lens, 8MP camera with autofocus and touch focus capability, HD 720p video recording with 30FPS, and one touch image sharing, the device’s design is available in black, cyan and magenta.
Optimised for great social and internet performance, the Lumia 800 offers simple social network access, easy grouping of contacts, integrated communication threads, thousands of great new apps and Internet Explorer 9. You also get 25 gigs of free cloud storage and the ability to work with familiar document formats, making sharing, editing and creating simple and fun.
We are hoping this one is all it’s cracked up to be, and won’t be the flop that the N9 was. Let’s hope this bright start is a life saver for the Finnish giant.
