Mio Technology has consolidated its number three position in the EMEA market for devices with integrated mobile GPS navigation.
According to the specialist industry analyst Canalys, Mio Technology experienced year on year growth of 90% for such devices in Q3 2006. Its Q3 market share grew from 8.1% to 8.9% over the 12 months.
Mio Technology also retained its No 1 position in EMEA in the less well established market for PDAs with integrated GPS. The company also held on to the No 2 spot for all types of PDA sales across the region, with volumes up 3.4% compared to the same period in 2005.
Leo Exter, European marketing & communications manager, said Mio Technology’s quarterly figures were boosted by a good performance in a number of key markets – notably France and Spain, where Mio’s market share grew 63% and 31% respectively. We’ve moved up to the number three position in France and number five position in Spain in the third quarter. In addition, we are delighted to have retained our number three position in Italy in the face of fierce competition.” he noted.
