Many people take time out at the beginning of a new year to do a bit of contact admin. Looking back at your address book, which for most is now firmly embedded in their smartphone, and getting rid of those contacts that are of no use keeps your contact list up to date for the year ahead. This month we take a look at the best contact apps out on the market.
Contacts +
Organise your contacts with this app and you will be able to integrate all your contacts with their social media profiles too. The app automatically syncs to social media accounts and provides information from Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ allowing you to browse profiles all in one place. You can also view your recent communications from each contact as well as their social media posts. This means you can keep conversation histories for your friends, family and colleagues. It is incredibly easy to use and also allows you to Facetime and email contacts from within the app. Available on iOS and Android
Cloze
Cloze goes one step further than your regular contacts app and not only syncs to all of your social networks but also from your email account too. This ensures data is always current so you don’t need to wonder if people have new numbers etc. The app also allows you to tweet, update your status, like or share links from within the app. Over time the app learns which of your contacts are “key people” and pushes their updates and tweets to the top of your notifications. Available on iOS
Connect
Connect is a free iOS app which is all about simplicity. The app is driven by quick and clean swipe controls which allows you to call, message and add new contacts to your list. It also has very easy to use folders which allows you to bundle contacts together to separate family, friends and work colleagues. It’s not as complex as some of the other options out there but it does a good job of making contacts easy to find. If you don’t care about the social media stuff then this one is for you. Available on iOS.
PureContact
PureContact comes at your contact list a little bit differently than others out there. It focuses on your most frequently contacted names. The app allows users to assign their favourite contacts onto a page, with swipes on their portraits triggering a variety of actions such as making calls, sending SMS, email, WhatsApp messaging, or bringing up their contact card. This makes the whole process very speedy so if you are short on time then this could be your dream app. Available on Android
