Aastra Launches New Family of IP Phones and i7.5 Software

Europe’s third largest telephone systems manufacturer, Aastra has unveiled a brand new range of IP Phones, adding to its existing portfolio of handsets designed to work with the award-winning IntelliGate PBX system family

The new style Office IP range includes a handset for every type of user from entry level and mid-range through to the highly featured top of the range model. At the same time, the Company has released its new software version, IntelliGate 7.5 to support the new IP phones and provide even more features.

Michael Calvert, General Manager for Aastra in the UK says. “This is our first new range of handsets for a long time. Our existing terminals remain as their distinctive and timeless styling will always be in demand, but the new Office IP phones allow users to benefit from the latest full range of IP telephony technology. Initial feedback from our dealers has been extremely positive as they see the new products appealing to new markets.”

New i7.5 Software

The latest software version for all Aastra IntelliGate systems is i7.5 and this contains the support for the new range of Office IP Phones but also provides a new raft of features and facilities.

Any existing Aastra IntelliGate system can be upgraded to this latest release allowing for connection of the new Office IP Phones and for powerful new features. The standard two port voice mail, which is included free of charge on every system, provides email integration to Microsoft exchange, with an increased recording capacity. Via a cost-effective license option, this standard voicemail can be expanded to 4 ports, with auto attendant facilities and over six hours of recording capacity.

Broadband and VoIP support allows remote-office and home workers to be connected to the IntelliGate systems with access to all of the same features and facilities as their office counterparts. This includes “CTI”, whereby all users can have their Microsoft Outlook contacts and calendar information integrated with their phone, once again wherever they are located. All Aastra IntelliGate systems support SIP Trunks, which offer cost effective and flexible IP links to an operator’s network in the place of traditional ISDN. As well as cost savings, SIP trunks permit users a “virtual” local presence allowing users to have an apparent presence anywhere in the country or even worldwide, and easily move and divert numbers between exchanges.

Using VoIP, all Aastra IntelliGate systems can be connected together to form a network of IntelliGate switches, providing full feature transparency across offices for multi-site companies. Individual IP Phones can also be connected within this network allowing management of a whole network of satellite systems to be performed on the single central switch, smoothing the installation and maintenance process.

The drive to offer the most efficient telephone system on the market underpins Aastra¹s launch of its new range of IP Phones and i7.5 software release. A broad portfolio of innovative terminals, features and applications provide an efficient, user-focused solution which combine with the latest cost saving IP telephony technology to create a compelling proposition to the small business owner.

Mike Ballantine, Business Development manager for Aastra says, “The new i7.5 release enables all Aastra customers to upgrade their current system to help them maximise the benefits of IP Telephony and migrate to full IP solutions at the time and pace they require”.
