Prosody S is a software-only HMP platform from Aculab that provides VoIP solutions developers with the ability to perform a broad range of media processing algorithms on any commercially available host processor from Intel or AMD. The product functionality includes algorithms such as matrix voice conferencing, T.38 fax termination, DTMF generation and detection, live speaker / answering machine detection, packet loss concealment (PLC), call progress tone detection, voice activity detection (VAD), comfort noise generation (CNG), voice recording/playback, transcoding between numerous voice codecs and other functions. In addition to the comprehensive set of media handling capabilities, the software provides essential VoIP call control, with both Aculab’s SIP and H.323 stacks included, while support for 3rd party stacks is also provided.
Host media processing software is used to create a wide range of enterprise and telco level communications solutions including: IVR; IP media servers; conferencing servers; unified messaging and presence services; online collaboration and gaming platforms. The ability to use generic, commodity hardware for these IP telephony solutions means a low cost technology engagement, greater deployment flexibility and a reduced total cost of ownership (TCO) for the solutions.
Speaking on the new version release, Herman Abel, Product Manager responsible for the Prosody product lines at Aculab said, “The Prosody S product is recognised by communications solutions developers for providing the highest operational performance, deployment scalability and the complete set of media processing and call control functions. Ever expanding functionality set, product stability and the technical support provided by Aculab, combined with the low cost per channel and simple pricing structure, all contribute to the fact that Prosody S HMP has been chosen by several major IP telephony service providers for their next-generation platforms.”
The performance indicators obtained during the product load testing show that Prosody S version 2.4 is capable of processing beyond 600 full duplex VoIP channels or 100 T.38 fax terminations on a host machine equipped with an Intel 2x Dual Core Xeon 5160 CPU. These benchmarks set Aculab’s Prosody S within the best performing host media processing platforms currently available on the market.
